We Can Do So Much If We Are Not Afraid.

Sometimes, the only thing between where we are and where we want to be... is fear. We choose not to take that next step because we fear the outcome, and we know there's no turning back once we take that step. We refuse to deal with the issue because we are scared to get hurt. We postpone a big plan because we fear that we may fail when the plan is finally put to action.

But we wouldn't know the outcome without doing something, would we?

"If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. Keep on sowing your seed, for you never know which will grow—perhaps it all will." - Ecclesiastes 11:4, 6 (TLB)(NLT)

Thou Shall Not Be Afraid.

Sometimes, the only dividing line between us and all the things we want to accomplish is our fear.

If we are not afraid, what are we going to do? The answer is endless.

Doing away with our fear will open the door towards all the things we've always dreamed of.

Run To Your Fear.

This is a favorite line of a preacher that I admire. He always tells people to face their fear and to never give up. And how right he is.

Yesterday, I just realized that we can never overcome a fear unless we continuously expose ourselves to whatever triggers it. We can only really do two things about the things we fear - either we forever avoid them or we continually face them until we finally become immune to them. Two things, and it's clear which is the correct choice.

So from now on, my prayer will be:

Dear Lord, please help me recognize my fears and find their roots. Please give me the courage to face these fears until they no longer scare me. Amen.

Fear Can Mean Love.

I'm not sure about what I feel, but right now there is one thing that I know:

That I'm scared.

I read the post. And I'm not sure, but I think it's about you. And if it is, that only means it isn't over yet. Yes, you told me several times it's over, at least on your part. But in all honesty, I did not quite buy that - maybe because I've always believed you can never be totally over a person who had been a very important part of your life in the past. There will always be something left for that person. And if the other person has the same emotions left, the temptation to get back together will always be there. All that's needed is an opening, even just the slightest chance, even just the smallest ray of light. And I guess that post, it's an opening, a chance, a ray of light.

I'm not sure about what I feel, but I know I'm scared.

If you see that opening, what would you do? Would you be tempted to go back and give it another shot? Would you realize that the present is all just a waste, that it was really just a way to get back at your past? I've never really admitted this to myself, but all this time this thought has been in my subconscious - I've always wondered whether what we have is just your form of revenge to someone who has hurt you in the past, that this is just to show the person that you can move on. I'm too proud to admit that this thought bothers me, that this is one of my fears, but it does bother me and it is one of my fears. Once I asked you to meet her again without me with you, just to see whether you still had feelings for the person. I guess I wanted to be sure that you've really moved on, that whatever we have is for real. But you refused. I had three thoughts running in my mind back then - one, that you refused because you really wanted me to be with you on that occasion; two, that you refused because you were afraid to be tempted again and to fall under the person's spell if you go there alone, so you needed me beside you; and three, that you wanted me there as a trophy to show around and let the person know that you've moved on. I ignored those thoughts and buried them in my subconscious, and there they've stayed since then. Until now, I still wonder. And I guess, as long as we're together, I'll always have these thoughts with me. And every time something would come up, I would be scared.

I know I'm scared, but does that mean I love you?

I think I know the answer. I think I knew it all along. I think I do. I just could not admit it to myself yet because I could not go with this, not just yet, until I have everything in my life all sorted out. But what about the fear? What about these bothering thoughts? I guess they're all part of the things I would have to deal with when I finally decide to go with this. After all, your past will always be part of your life.

Anything That's Big Enough To Scare Us Is Worth A Try.

Fear can be a blessing or a curse. It could either leave a person paralyzed on the edge, unable to move, or it could compel that person to finally plunge into that abyss of uncertainty that would change his whole life. So, how would we want fear to affect our life?

Anything that's big is scary - that is true. And, all the great things in the world are accomplished with fear. When we experience fear while we're about to embark on any particular venture, that only means we're up to something bigger than ourselves - and that is always a good thing.

My Prayer: Lord, help me not allow fear to cripple me and keep me from moving. Every time I experience this emotion, please always remind me that something big is coming my way. Amen.

Our Fear Tells Us Something About Ourselves.

It tells us that we're out of our safe zone. It helps us determine which things are beyond our control, and which aspects of our personality still need growth. In a way, it also helps us realize the things that we value and the things that are important to us.

So while fear is crippling, at the end of every fearful episode, there is learning. And if only for that, we should be thankful of our fear.

We Gotta Take That One Step That Will Start The Miracles We've All Been Waiting To Happen.

Fear is a crippling emotion. It keeps us from doing what we need to do. It paralyzes us and narrows our vision. It blocks out all possibilities and imprisons us in a world of negativity. Fear can keep us from reaching our dreams.

For many years I was battling with fear. For many years, I allowed fear to take over when it comes to reaching my biggest dream, a dream that bloomed when I was still in my university days. A dream whose fire continued to burn even after many years of distraction and straying.

For the past years, every time the year begins, I would include that dream in my list of things to accomplish for the year. But, as the date would near, I would be fearful and would be filled with all sorts of doubt and hesitations - feeling that I'm not ready, that I still have a lot to learn, that I might not succeed. And then I would come up with a perfect excuse to postpone the plan and to put the dream back to sleep. Until four years later, I have not done anything yet.

Today is the fourth year, and I intend to do something this time. They say we must run towards our fear, and that's just what I intend to do. I'll run towards my fear! The appointed date is not  yet too soon, but a while ago I took the first step. It was a simple call, a simple inquiry, but after I did it I felt great. I felt that today is the beginning of many great things yet to come.

For many of us, all we need is that first irreversible step to make all our dreams come true. I did it! And I claim victory in God's name! My dream will be fulfilled!
