There's Beauty In Being Different.

Modern society places an enormous pressure on its people to conform, to show unity, to adhere to its norms. It hails conformity; it promotes agreement. It favors people who belong. In fact, many today find strength in their groups and associations, and people feed on popularity and fame.

But who says it is a crime to differ? What law says it's an offense to choose to be distinct?

During moments when one is burdened by the pressure of conformity, when one feels the weight of his distinctiveness, one can take comfort in this knowledge -

that it takes more courage to stand alone, distinct, even if that means being unpopular, than to conform and be like everybody else, dissolving in the identity of one's peers and safe in the shadows of others.
