There Are Many Ways To Serve God.

We can serve God even outside of the church.
We can do it despite our imperfections.

Friendship Prevails.

Today has been a very happy day, and I have received so many blessings. I can't be thankful enough for the good times and memories brought by this day.

And just as the day is about to end, I received another major blessing - in the form of acceptance, of understanding, of frienship. From someone I care about a lot.

Thank you, Lord. I just knew it would be like this when the time comes. And I was right. I'm just so happy that I was, because I badly wanted to be right about this. Thank you.

Everything Demands Constant Work.

Everything that is good, we have to work for. Everything that is beautiful is a product of effort.

Note to self: Nothing exists without hard work.

You Can't Allow One Small Ugly Detail To Ruin An Entirely Beautiful Thing.

Because...
The ugly is there so that you can recognize the beautiful.
The sad parts of your life exist so that you can appreciate the good.
You've been hurt so that you can value love when you find it.

You have to take the whole. If you want to enjoy the entire beauty, you have to try and put up with that single ugly detail. That's how it all works.

Nothing Can Be Beautiful.

Those moments when you restrain your mind and keep it from running into the future, into your plans and your to-do list, and allow it to simply wallow in the moment. When you've got nothing but today... Nothing but whatever is here... Nothing but the present reality... And you realize, this is what life is all about. You are alive.

I Won't Be Blinded By Appearances.

Don't show me the cross necklace that you wear around your neck.
Don't tell me how many times you kneel in front of the altar everyday.
And don't shout your prayers for me to hear.

I want to see the kind of life you live when you're outside the church.
I want to know how you treat people who are different from you.
And I want to hear the words that come out of your mouth when you're angry or annoyed.

We All Have Our Biases.

I'm all for fairness, equality, and suspended judgment, but there are times when my own biases and opinion get in the way I see things, the way I express myself, and the way I come out to others with my views.

I guess the path to fairness and justice is a path that one must constantly and diligently pursue, because it is so easy to stray away towards one's own subjectivity. It is a daily challenge, and it requires hard work. We must all strive to win it all the time.

There Are Always Two Sides To Every Choice.

Seldom does it happen that one choice is one hundred percent correct and the other choice one hundred percent wrong. If that is the case, making a choice will be so much easier. But no, that is not the case. Often, choice 1 will always have a good side and a bad side to it. It will be the same with choice 2. So how do we make a choice?

I guess this is where our values get in. What are the things that we stand up for? What are things that we can let go and tolerate? If we establish our values, and we set our eyes straight on these values, decision-making will be easier.

Everything Is Going To Be Fine.

Despite the problems, despite the lack of resources, despite the lack of time, despite the stress... I know I can make this. :)

We All Have An Opinion About People.

But...

As Herbert J. Taylor asked in

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say, or do

- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

My respect goes to the man who can hold his opinion to himself unless the right occasion calls for him to express such opinion.

It Takes Courage To Stand By A Person When It Seems The Whole World Is Going Against That Person.

But that is what friendship is all about. Sometimes, all you can do to be a real friend is accept the person - the good, the bad, the entire package.

Hold Your Judgment.

Until you have all the facts gathered.
Until you have all the supporting proof to your arguments.
Until you are 100% sure you've got everything right.

Until then, tell your mind to stay on neutral lanes.

It Is Difficult To Be Objective About A Situation When The People Involved Are People We Care About.

Because no matter what we do, our judgment and perspective will always be clouded by our emotions. I think that is a good thing, because that only proves our heart, our loyalty, and that is part of our design as a person (which is a perfect design, by the way). And we can't avoid that because we're only human. Our heart is always at work in us.

In the end, though, we all want to believe that all things will still turn out well regardless of our judgment and perspective.

Dream And Work.

One message I received via GodWhispers:

Dear ____,

Don’t be stuck with the “How” of your dreams. I’ll take care of that. I’ll supply you with what you need. I’ll provide you with the resources, the open doors, the inspiration, and the connections. Your job is to dream and to work with whatever is in front of you at this moment.

Me,
God

You Got It All, Believe It.

I don't understand some of the lines of this song, but the lines that I understand speak to me in a very inspiring way. Great song! :)

On Love.

"I believe that love that is true and real, creates a respite from death. All cowardice comes from not loving or not loving well, which is the same thing. And then the man who is brave and true looks death squarely in the face, like some rhino-hunters I know or Belmonte, who is truly brave... It is because they make love with sufficient passion, to push death out of their minds... until it returns, as it does, to all men... and then you must make really good love again." - Midnight in Paris

*** Quote stolen from someone's phone. I LOVE YOU. :)

We Always Have That Life That We Go Back To.

No matter what kind of person we'd become over the years and no matter how much of us had changed, every now and then, we'd find ourselves going back to that life. Because that is the home of our spirit, and the spirit will always long to return. No matter how many places it has seen, it doesn't get lost, it doesn't forget - the spirit will always look for its home.

Even Good Things Have To End.

But it doesn't matter - we always have the option to make good things a regular part of our life. We can always look forward to the next good thing coming when the one that we are enjoying now already ends.

Memories Are Better Than Photographs.

Yes, photographs can immortalize events, but photos cannot replace the actual experience. So I'd say snap a few pictures, put away your camera, and enjoy the moment. Feel the experience of being alive. Your memory will fade, but the time you spend savoring the experience instead of taking photographs will nourish and enrich you in many ways.

Time Lost Is Time You'll Never Get Back.

It's like something broken that you can never repair, and all you can hold on to is the remaining broken piece. You still have it, but it's not complete. With lost time, all you get left is the memory of what you've lost. It's beautiful, but it's not the same.

Friendships Never End.

It's when distance has already separated the two of you, time has already led you to different paths, and you think life has already torn the two of you apart...

And then all it takes are a few words, maybe a single SMS message, a simple "See you!" to bridge all that great distance, all those lost years, all those silence, and bring back what you once had - complete and intact.

It's All A Matter Of Focus.

Life is like a camera that enlarges an object as the lens narrows to focus on that object. And whatever you focus on, you enlarge. A point can come when the lens has grown so narrow and your focus has grown so large that it already dominates your life.

I can always tell you to focus on the good so that only good things will reign your daily existence, but that would not be realistic. The better advice would be that you widen the lens so that you don't focus on a single thing alone, that you don't allow any single element to dominate your life. Aim for variety. Strive for a wider perspective. Explore the different sides of the coin.

There's Beauty In Being Different.

Modern society places an enormous pressure on its people to conform, to show unity, to adhere to its norms. It hails conformity; it promotes agreement. It favors people who belong. In fact, many today find strength in their groups and associations, and people feed on popularity and fame.

But who says it is a crime to differ? What law says it's an offense to choose to be distinct?

During moments when one is burdened by the pressure of conformity, when one feels the weight of his distinctiveness, one can take comfort in this knowledge -

that it takes more courage to stand alone, distinct, even if that means being unpopular, than to conform and be like everybody else, dissolving in the identity of one's peers and safe in the shadows of others.

Family Comes First.

I know my family doesn't always understand me, and I don't always understand them either...

But in the end, these are people whose support has never failed me. And good or bad, I know they'll always be the first people I'd turn to.

Reward Comes After Hard Work.

Hello vacation. Nice to come across you again.

There's No Perfection, But There's Always Learning.

And while perfection is elusive, fleeting, learning is permanent. It's a plant we can't pluck once the seed has been sown. And it's always the bigger end of the two.

We All Need To Break Routine Every Once In A While.

It won't be easy. It would mean getting out of our comfort zone, trying out new - sometimes scary - things, and possibly failing. But it's better than stagnancy, better than the predictable drone that our existence sometimes turns out to be. And in the end, breaking routine is the only real way to grow.

The First Step Is Always The Hardest.

It's the most terrifying, yet it's also when the greatest leap takes place. And after that leap, everything becomes a lot better - you become a lot better.

Just Be.

Just feel every moment - good, bad, pleasurable or not... Sometimes, all you can do is to simply exist.
